Flex-A-Grip Instructions
Exercises for your Wrist

Wrist Extension:
Grab moveable bar with involved hand while resting forearm on stationary bar. |

Wrist Extension:
Lift wrist up. Slowly lower wrist to start position. |

Wrist Flexion:
Grab moveable bar with involved hand while resting forearm on stationary bar. Lift wrist up (move palm of hand toward the ceiling). Slowly lower wrist to start position. |
Exercises for your Fingers

Finger Flexion:
Grab moveable bar with fingers while thumb is stabilized on stationary bar. |

Finger Flexon:
Pull moveable bar toward stationary bar with fingers. Slowly lower moveable bar back to start position. |

Finger Opposition:
Place thumb, pointer finger, ring finger and pinky in rings. |
 |
Pull down and in toward palm of hand. |
 |
Radial Deviation:
Place forearm against stationary bar with pointer finger against moveable bar. Move pointer finger up towards ceiling. Slowly lower to start position. |

Ulnar Deviation:
Place forearm against stationary bar with pinky finger against moveable bar. Move pinky finger towards ceiling. Slowly lower to start position. |

Variation of Ulnar Deviation:
Rest forearm on table with pinky on moveable bar. Hold machine down with opposite hand. Move pinky to table.
Variation of Radial Deviation:
Rest forearm on table with pointer finger under moveable bar. Raise pointer finger towards ceiling. |
Execises for your Thumb muscles

Thumb Opposition:
Place the thumb in lower ringer and pinky in upper ring diagonal to thumb. Pull thumb and pinky towards each other. Goal: touch thumb with pinky. The exercise machine can be expanded at the top bar in either direction. Each tubing component can be lengthened and shortened as well. This is demonstrated on the right side of the machine with the bar and tubing lengthened.
Thumb Adduction:
Place thumb in ring (resistance becomes greater in lower ring). Grasp stationary bar with fingers.
Pull ring to stationary bar with thumbs. Slowly lower thumb into start position.
Wrist Flexion / Adduction
Place thumb in ring with fingers on moveable bar. Draw thumb towards moveable bar and palm of hand. |
Rehabilitation is limited only by your ideas.
In this exercise, thumb flexion / adduction is challenged with bubble wrap and the exercise machine. The patient's goal is to pop the bubble wrap between the stationary bar and the moveable bar.
Use the machine to increase your strength, dexterity, range of motion, and flexibility of your hand, wrist and finger muscles..

In order to best utilize the Flex-A-Grip and maximize its benefits, the following guild lines are provided.
- The Flex-A-Grip may be utilized by consumers as a generalized strengthening and conditioning exercise device. As with any exercise program, it is advisable to beginning with light resistance to your tolerance. Remember it is always better to undergo than overdo when beginning a new exercise program.
- For therapeutic use, adhere to appropriate protocols / contra indications when establishing patient programs.
- May be used for generalized strengthening and condition or muscle / tendon specific exercises as indicated.
- Has eccentric and concentric exercise benefits
- May be utilized for isometric as well as isotonic exercises.
